SCG's Trip for Peace, Empowerment, & Change

This winter, Seeking Common Ground (SCG) is introducing a unique and exciting opportunity to see Israel through the eyes of Israelis, Arab-Israelis/Palestinian-Israelis, and Palestinians working together to create systemic change.
The inaugural "Trip for Peace, Empowerment, and Change" is open to women and men of all faiths and backgrounds from across the U.S. who are interested in meeting with and learning from Israelis, Arab-Israelis/Palestinian-Israelis, and Palestinians working across communities for peace, social justice, and the empowerment of women.
The "Trip" will be guided by SCG's innovative gender lens and female-centered paradigm. The program is in development, and will include visits to Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, Haifa, and Nazareth. The program will enable participants to experience Jewish and Arab societies in Israel and meet with organizations, programs, and individuals that are creating change through the empowerment of women.
The dates for the trip are January 20-January 30, 2008. The cost of the trip is $2800, based on double occupancy (airfare is additional). Space is limited, and deposits of $500 are currently being accepted.
This trip is being organized in collaboration with SCG's partner organization in Israel, the Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development (NISPED). Vivian Silver, Executive Director of NISPED, and Amal Elsana Alh’jooj, Director of the Arab-Jewish Center for Equality, Empowerment and Cooperation (AJEEC) will serve as trip hosts. The trip is also being co-chaired Carema Cook-Masaud and Barbara Shindell, of Denver, CO.
