Last year she interned at an after school program for kids who live in public housing where she ran several groups and helped to manage the site. Becky’s curiosity and desire to learn about other cultures began early in her life and has played a role in her extensive travel around the world.
As an intern at SCG, Becky is working in program development and evaluation with a particular focus on alumni programming. During her time at SCG she hopes to gain experience in leadership and conflict resolution as well as a better understanding of how to work with communities in conflict.
As part of this degree, she has completed a regional concentration in the Middle East, and is currently working on a thesis addressing the potential for using nonviolent communication in Middle Eastern development. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a B.A. in Political Science, with minors in History and Legal Studies. As an undergrad, Leslie lived, studied and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East/North Africa, including Morocco, Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. These experiences enhanced her deep love and appreciation for Middle Eastern culture, and led her to pursue graduate studies.

As an intern at SCG, Leslie hopes to gain experience in program development specifically, as well as further experience working with a small international non-profit. Hoping to pursue Middle Eastern development work in the future, she is excited to learn more about SCG’s work in “getting to know the other,” improving her intercultural communication skills.
